130 refugees to be relocated from Lesvos directly to Germany

Approximately 130 recognised refugees on the island of Lesvos will be relocated directly to Germany on Wednesday.

Their transfer will be carried out on a charter flight that will land in Hannover.

Among the refugees will be over 30 families who are mostly from Afghanistan, while some are from Iran and Iraq.

The relocation of the refugees is taking place in an agreement between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to relocate 1,553 refugees from Greece to Germany after the destruction of the migrant camp in Moria.

A total of 333 refugees have already been relocated to Germany.
