Greece issues digital Covid-19 vaccination certificates

Greece is now issuing Covid-19 vaccination certificates.

Citizens who have had two doses of the vaccine are now eligible for a digital certificate, which they can apply for through the gov.gr website.

The announcement was made by Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis on SKAI radio.

Along with other European countries, Greece began vaccinating frontline health care staff and elderly and vulnerable residents of nursing homes last month.

Nearly 40,000 certificates of vaccination were issued within 24 hours of the platform's start of operation on Friday.

Individuals who would like to receive their digital certificate will need their:

  • Taxisnet login details
  • AMKA number (social security number)

The certificate contains only basic information from the vaccination register of the e-Government Center for Social Security (IDIKA) and is produced by the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (EDYTE).

So far, nearly 700,000 vaccinations have been carried out. Of these, 468,000 were for the first of two shots, and 226,635 were for the second one. The rate places Greece 12th among the EU's 27 countries in terms of vaccinations per 100 residents.
