Greece and UAE seek to deepen defense relationship

Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos on Monday concluded his three-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He was accompanied by the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros.

Panagiotopoulos met with United Arab Emirates State Minister responsible for Defense Affairs Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi.

During the meeting, the two "exchanged views on current developments and the prospects of expanding the defense relationship of our countries," the Greek Minister tweeted.

Afterwards, the Greek minister paid a visit to Zayed Port and the Greek frigate 'Hydra', which is part of the events for the IDEX 2021 international defence and NAVDEX 2021 Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibitions at Abu Dhabi.

Greek National Defense Minister has ‘constructive’ meeting with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

On Sunday, Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, they discussed geopolitical developments in the region and ways to boost bilateral relations in defense.

Panagiotopoulos stressed that Greece’s strategic relationship with the UAE promoted security and stability in the greater region.

“My meeting today in the UAE with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was very constructive,” he posted on Twitter.
