Greece's national health system is under growing pressure due to a worrying rise in coronavirus infections.
On Wednesday, the country reported 1,913 new cases and 28 deaths.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Hellenic Intensive Care Society president Αnna Kotanidou stated that Athens is currently experiencing the greatest such pressure.
But she stressed that there has never been anyone left "outside of the health system."
On his part, Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias noted that ICU beds in Attica are 90% occupied.
So far, 758,480 inoculations have been carried out, corresponding to 7.22% of the population, he added.
Daily inoculations average 25,004, and appointments booked total 1,486,66.
Greece will not lift lockdown restrictions in Athens on March 1 as previously planned, following a sharp increase in coronavirus infections, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday.
“The sharp increase in cases yesterday pushes back the prospect of easing measures on March 1,” Mitsotakis said during a cabinet meeting.
