As this year marks 200 years since the Greek Revolution of 1821, luxury brand Hermès has created a collectible scarf paying tribute to the special celebration.
The limited edition all-silk scarf features characteristic landscapes of Greece and bolds the word Ἐλευθερία (Freedom).
Designed by Athens-based artist Elias Kafouros, all proceeds will be donated to Thoracic Diseases General Hospital Sotiria.
The Hermès storefront window display in Athens will also be transformed to celebrate the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution.
"The history of Greece is global and as Europeans, our destiny is linked to the destiny of Greece," said Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the creative director of the world's most illustrious luxury brand, Hermès.
Dumas' father was Jean-Louis Dumas, the former CEO of the Hermès Group. His mother was Rena (née Gregoriadès) Dumas, the Greek-born architect who founded Rena Dumas Architecture Intérieure in 1972 in Paris.
Elias Kafouros explained that the design functions as a reflection on the concept of freedom, which he often took for granted, as well as the real essence of independence in today's world.
The limited edition scarf will be available at Hermès Athens from March 26, 2021.
