Vandals deface murals of Greek heroes 1821

Vandals have defaced murals of 1821 heroes for the second time.

"I'm not their target. Our heroes are. Vandalise my signature, no problem, but not the face of Botsaris," the young street artist Evrytos tweeted.

Markos Botsaris was a Greek general and hero of the Greek War of Independence and captain of the Souliotes. Botsaris is among the most revered national heroes in Greece.

In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolt, the 18-year-old artist depicted the main figures of the struggle – Karaiskakis, Nikitaras, Botsaris, etc.

His work quickly went viral on social media.

As he stated previously, with this move he wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the Revolution, sending his own message to those who seek to gray the ideas of the 1821 struggle.
