France, Britain and Russia made their biggest contribution to the Greek Independence effort by defeating the Ottoman Navy in the Battle of Navarino on October 20 in 1827.

The French president will be attending the celebration with his wife Brigitte.

The Russian president has no plans to visit Athens despite being invited to attend the March 25th military parade, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said, as reported by Greek City Times.
