Congratulations were given by the Vice President of the European Commission for the Promotion of the European Lifestyle, Margaritis Schinas, for the vaccination effort in Greece, which he characterised as a "European champion of vaccination".

He noted that Greece is a country that succeeded where other countries could not.

Schinas visited the Vaccination Center "Prometheus" in Maroussi, in the context of the first day of his visit to Greece.

"I knew before I came that Greece is a European champion in vaccinations, but now I understand why: I see people organized, I see a serious state, I see people with joy preparing to be vaccinated, everything I see reminds me of Europe," he said.

Congratulating those who contributed, he stressed that Greece has shown that it is a European country that can do things that others have not done so well.

"The country has exceeded one million doses, having vaccinated 6.5% of the population with one dose and 3.5% with both doses," Schinas said.

"It also has a development program for 1,000 vaccination centers and one of the lowest missed dose rates in Europe," he continued.

An important factor of success, as he said, is that it has at its disposal the most perfect technological platform for scheduling.

In closing he said that Greece has a lot of work ahead of it, but it has become a great start.
