Prince Philip undergoes successful heart procedure

Greek-born Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, is recovering in hospital after undergoing a “successful” operation on Wednesday for his pre-existing heart condition.

As reported on GCT, he was admitted to the private King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London on February 16 after feeling unwell.

The illness was not related to the coronavirus and royal officials called it a precautionary measure.

Earlier this week, he was transferred to a different hospital in central London.

“The Duke of Edinburgh yesterday underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition at St Bartholomew´s Hospital,” Buckingham Palace said.

“His Royal Highness will remain in hospital for treatment, rest and recuperation for a number of days,” the statement added.

The prince, who turns 100 in June, retired from public life in August 2017 but occasionally makes appearances at royal engagements.
