A teleconference aimed at informing the organisers and participating parties about the evolution of the synergies between Greek and American Universities was held.
This was in the framework of the cooperation program launched in December 2019 by the Ministry of Education and Religions, jointly with the Institute of International Education.
The teleconference was attended by the Greek Minister of Education and Religions Niki Kerameus, the Greek Undersecretary in charge of Higher Education Angelos Syrigos, and the Greek Secretary General of Higher Education Apostolos Dimitropoulos.
They were joined by counterparts from the U.S.
The goal of the IAPP (International Academic Partnership Program) Greece is to facilitate universities from the two countries to launch long-term synergies, including:
Kerameos stated in this regard:
“Our Universities have a lot to gain but also a lot to offer to the global academic community through collaborations with foreign Universities.
“The extroversion of our Universities is a priority for us and in this direction we have already established tools for their liberation from institutional anchorages and enhancing their potential for international synergies.
“We are particularly pleased that the International Academic Partnership Program with U.S. Universities has already begun to bear fruit.
“This is despite the adverse conditions of the pandemic, giving members of our academic community the opportunity to collaborate with some of the world’s best Universities, exchanging know-how and best practices.
“By opening the horizons of our Universities, we ensure in our country the place it deserves on the international academic map.”
The program involves all the Greek Higher Education Institutions and 29 leading universities in the U.S., including members of the Ivy League, such as Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, and others such as Johns Hopkins, New York University, UC Berkeley and Tufts.
