Yeni Akit: Approaching the Evros River is not allowed with Greek military permission

The Yeni Akit newspaper is creating a hostile climate against Greece and the U.S., and sees a "ban" of entering Greece from the Evros River on the Greek-Turkish border.

This however has always been the case because of military reasons.

Noting that "Ankara is closely following developments," the newspaper said that restrictive military checks have started in Evros.

According to new security measures in the area of Fera, approaching the River Evros is not allowed without permission from the Greek army.

Barbed-wire obstacles and additional border guards.

The report states that the strong U.S. military presence in Evros and the arrival of U.S. military equipment to the area, resulted in Washington asking Athens to:

"take additional security measures in the border area of Evros, with Greek authorities moving forward immediately towards new restrictive measures."

The newspaper claimed that Greece and the U.S. are trying "to conceal military activities taking place right next to Turkey."

They also noted the arrival of U.S. officials in the region during the unloading of military equipment at the Port of Alexandroupolis.

"Experts point out that the process, which continues developments with the U.S. military installations in the Gulf of Souda in Crete, joint military exercises with Greece and the creation of a naval base in Alexandroupolis, aims to escalate tensions in the region."

Souda Bay, Greece.

"All of this is part of Greece's plans, aimed not only at Turkey, but at intimidating the 'Turkish' minority in Western Thrace'," concluded the provocative article, entitled "Scandalous move by Greece to the US".
