Italian Parliament unanimously ratifies Italy-Greece agreement on delimitation of maritime zones

With 273 votes in favor and no votes against, the Italian Parliament approved the delimitation of maritime zones between Greece and Italy.

According to Agenzia Nova, Article 1 defines the maritime border between Greece and Italy and not just the continental shelf that was aforementioned in the 1977 agreement between the two countries.

The Greek Parliament in August 2020 approved the agreement between the two countries on the delimitation of their respective maritime zones.

It is recalled in June 2020, following a meeting between Foreign Ministers Nikos Dendias and Luigi di Mayo, Athens and Rome agreed on demarcating an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
