Greece continues to make “negative statements, actions and harassment” against Turkey, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said on Friday.
“Our talks with Greece continue,” Akar said, adding that “Despite our constructive attitude, we continue to be confronted with negative statements, actions and harassment from our neighbors.”
Referring to the issue of Egypt, Akar took the baton from Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu who claimed that Turkey’s diplomatic contacts with Egypt had officially begun.
“Egypt’s rapprochement and recent developments will benefit both countries and the rest of the region. That, after all, suits our cultural and historical ties,” he said.
Akar also called on the United States to stop cooperating with terrorist organisations and to work with Turkey, which “has been an ally in NATO for years.”
