Sailing duo qualifies for Tokyo Olympic Games

Olympic sailing duo Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis have qualified for the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games at the Vilamoura 470 World Championship 2021 in Portugal, held March 5-13.

Mantis and Kagialis, bronze medal winners in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, came in 6th in Vilamoura, with 99 points. 

Among women's teams in Portugal, Aimilia Tsoulfa and Ariadne Spanaki also qualified for the Tokyo Games.

It is noteworthy that 48 year old Tsoulfa won gold in the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, when she was 31 years old.

The Tokyo Olympic Games, scheduled in the summer of 2020, were postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
