On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the 1821 Revolution and the 140th anniversary of Greek-Romanian relations, the Embassy of Greece in Bucharest is displaying works by European painters around the perimeter of its building.

The outdoor exhibition held under the auspices of the Greece 2021 Committee, is entitled “The Pan-European impact of the Greek Revolution of 1821 – The Sacrifices of the Greeks for Liberation Inspired Foreign Painters”.

“Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi” by Eugène Delacroix, “The oath of Lord Byron at the tomb of Marcos Botsaris” by Ludovico Lipparini and “The Souliotisses” by Ari Schaefer, are some of the most emblematic works of that period.

The paintings will be on display until the end of March.
