"I believe that the [COVID-19] vaccination certificate will be ready before the summer," said Margaritis Schinas, vice-president of the European Commission for the Promotion of the European Lifestyle.
He explained that "when the Greek prime minister proposed it, we were very few and the fact the idea became a European proposal makes us believe that the proposal will have a decision soon."
Schinas said that this proposal "is the key that opens the door to mobility in Europe."
"I believe we will be ready before summer," he added.
Asked if the certificate would be a source of discrimination, he categorically denied it, saying the vaccine would be one of the three features which will appear on the certificate.
Included would also be "anyone who has not been vaccinated but have a negative PCR test or have natural immunity."
Asked about the progress of vaccinations and the criticism of the European Commission, Schinas assured that "we are absolutely within our vaccination goals."
He added that "Greece is one of the European champions in the rate of vaccines."
