Aegean Airlines commemorates Bicentennial of Greek Revolution by flying "200" over Peloponnese

Aegean Airlines found a unique way to commemorate the Bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence by flying "200" over the Peloponnese.

Flight A3 1821, with 1821 being symbolic to the year that the Greek War of Independence began, departed from Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport at 10:12am and took a total of an hour and 50 minutes to fly "200" over the Peloponnese and return.

The Aegean Airlines plane flew to Achaia, and at about 20,000 feet over the areas where the revolution began, specifically Ancient Olympia, Kalavryta, Corinth, Argos and Dervenakia, formed the number 200.

The Peloponnese is where the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire began in 1821.
