Republika Srpska, the Serb entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina, was lit blue and white to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire.
The colours of the Greek flag illuminated the Presidential Palace in the capital of Republika Srpska, Banja Luka.
The President of the Republika Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, happily gave her congratulations to the Greek people, stating:
"The illumination of the Presidential Palace in the colours of the Greek flag is a symbolic celebration for the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
"The Republika Srpska honours March 25 and the friendly Greek people, [and] honours the day that the struggle of the Greeks finally moved the whole world.
"2021 is a symbolic year for Greece, as this year the country celebrates the greatest anniversary of the most important point in its recent history.
"We participate together with the Greek people in the celebration of this anniversary."
An official letter was also sent by the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, to his Greek counterpart Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
It gave congratulations to "the fraternal Greek people" and their "heroic revolution."
It also highlighted the common moments in history that Greeks and Serbs have and "today they share an unbreakable symbol of spiritual connection that is intertwined with the eternal desire and the struggle for freedom."
