Queen Elizabeth sent President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou a letter to commemorate the bicentennial of Greece's 1821 Revolution and War of Independence.
Meanwhile, her first born son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, travelled to Athens to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

On the significant occasion of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek War of Independence, I would like to convey to Your Excellency my congratulations, together with my best wishes to the people of Greece.
