Greece records highest daily number of Covid-19 infections

Greece hit a record high number of confirmed daily coronavirus cases on Tuesday.

According to Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias, there are currently a total of 1,483 beds operating in ICUs nationally - 1,222 at National Health System (ESY) hospitals, 220 at private clinics, and 41 at military hospitals. Of these, 891 are in ICUs dedicated to Covid-19 patients exclusively, and 592 are operating in non-Covid-19 ICUs.

Nearly half of the total, or 729 ICU beds, are located in Attica Region: 427 in Covid-dedicated ICUs, and 302 in non-Covid ones.

Latest covid-19 numbers in Greece

Greece recorded 4,350 new cases of COVID-19 in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

This raises the total number of cases to 260,077.

Seven hundred and forty-one individuals are in ICU. Their median age is 68 years. 82.3% have an underlying condition or are aged 70 years and above.

The number of new Covid-19 patients in hospitals in the last 24 hours is 402 (daily change: -11.84%), while the rolling average of hospital admissions in the last seven days is 431 patients.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,688 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

The country’s pandemic death toll stands at 8,017. The median age of all was 79 years and 95.6% of the deceased had an underlying condition and/or age of 70 years or more.

The median age of new infections is 44 years (range: 0.2 to 105 years of age), while the median age of the deceased is 79 (range: 0 to 103 years).
