Founder and Chair of the Mouratoglou Academy, French-Greek Patrick Mouratoglou is the most influential coach in tennis.
Nicknamed “The Coach”, he is the gold standard on the international circuit.
He founded the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in 1996 near Paris (later relocated to the outskirts of Nice), and has coached many players, including Marcos Baghdatis, Julia Vakulenko, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Aravane Rezaï, Yanina Wickmayer and Grigor Dimitrov, to name a few.
Since 2012, Mouratoglou has been the coach of Serena Williams and has guided her to her fifth, sixth and seventh Wimbledon titles, her fourth, fifth, and sixth US Open titles, her second and third French Open titles, three consecutive year-end championships titles and her sixth and seventh Australian Open titles.
In 2015, Stefanos Tsitsipas started training in his tennis academies, as well as being coached by Mouratoglou and his father Apostolos Tsitsipas.
Recently, Mouratoglou announced that he is partnering with one of Europe’s most beautiful resort destinations, Costa Navarino.
The ‘Mouratoglou Tennis centre Costa Navarino’ offers players the opportunity to play on brand new, state-of-the-art courts with breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea, while receiving personalised coaching from the best in the world.
“We are finally bringing our tennis passion and expertise to a country that runs in my blood and that is very special to me,” he posted on Instagram.
The idyllic location with year-round sunshine, offers 16 brand new tennis courts.
“I was very happy to learn from Patrick about the creation of the Centre. We both have a deep connection with Greece, and I have no doubt that this new venture will be as successful as the Academy in France, where I have been training since I was 16 years old. I hope this move will encourage the further development of tennis in Greece and I look forward to visiting the new Centre,” Stefanos Tsitsipas said.
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Italian 24th seed Lorenzo Sonego 6-2, 7(7)-6(2) to advance to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.
Greece’s young star fired 20 winners and didn’t face a break point across one hour and 31 minutes against Sonego.
“I’m playing well, feeling well, and enjoying these moments on the court,” he said in his post match interview.
“I’m thrilled to be playing the way I’m playing. I’m having a great impact with my game so far this week, so it’s important for me to capitalise [on] that.
This will be his seventh ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal appearance.
