Following its successful exhibition in Melbourne last week, the stunning photographic exhibition of Greece’s Presidential Guards in ‘The Evzones Collection’ by Nick Bourdaniotis, will now be exhibited in Adelaide during the ANZAC day weekend.
More than 700 people attended the exhibition in Melbourne which was hosted by Oakleigh Grammar in conjunction with the 2021 Victorian Bicentenary Committee and the Organisational Council for Greek National Day celebrations.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Consul General of Greece, Emmanuel Kakavelakis, Bishop Ezekiel of Dervis from Melbourne District, Father George Adamakis and Chairman of the 2021 Victorian Committee Tony Tsourdalakis.
Exhibition photographer and producer Mr Nick Bourdaniotis has also used the exhibition as a platform to give back to various community groups.
He has auctioned off prints to raise money for local schools and charitable causes such as Agapi Care.
During the Melbourne exhibition, Mrs Mary Gakopoulos, Chief Executive Officer at AGAPI Care Inc. and members of the Board, thanked Nick Bourdaniotis for donating $2,000 from the auction of one of his prints.
Dimitris & Natasha Spanos placed the highest bid and received the photo from Nick.
“Nick’s exhibition bought so much love to our clients when they visited the exhibition and we thank him for his donation,” Mrs Gakopoulos commented.
People from all over Melbourne came to experience the photo exhibition. Clients from AGAPI care attended, aged care residents, students from Oakleigh Grammar and the general public.
Eirini Alligiannis, the curator of the exhibition across Australia, stated: “Most people attending had such a love for Greece and coming to experience this exhibition bought tears to many and overwhelming emotions.”
Adelaide will now have the opportunity to see this beautiful labour of love.
Mr Bourdaniotis spent years “marching” side by side with the Evzones and captured their spirit and tradition in a way, that not only Greeks are proud of, but all Australians can identify with the shared values and principles represented.
The exhibition was made possible by the generous support of The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, The Kalymnian Association of NSW, Kytherian Association of Australia, Greek City Times, Image Smart, Hellenic Club of Sydney, Hellenic Club of Canberra, Greek National Day Committee of Victoria , Oakleigh Grammar Victoria , The Greek Club Brisbane , St Nectarios Monastery South Australia, Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan District of WA , Williams Fashion Logistic.
