The British government has confirmed that it will formalise the "traffic light" system for international travel, which will rank countries based on the degree of COVID-19 risk.

According to the plan, arrivals from "red" and "orange" list countries should be quarantined, in hotels or at home.

In addition, the possibility of allowing quarantine trips to "green list" countries - among which Greece may be included - where a large part of the population has been vaccinated is being considered.

According to the The Independent, the government will evaluate the plan and is expected to relax the measures for "orange" countries that include popular destinations such as Greece, Italy and Spain.

A representative of low-cost British airline EasyJet said "We believe many countries in Europe could qualify for the green tier by this summer as vaccination programmes continue to progress well."
