Dendias briefs EU counterparts about his trip to Turkey

Nikos Dendias

The Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union was briefed by Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias about his recent trips to Libya, Turkey and Egypt.

The council met by teleconference because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The foreign ministers visit to Ankara last week hit the entire European press because of his humbling of Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu by publicly setting out all the illegal actions and practices of Turkey against Greece.

The briefing to European Union Foreign Ministers by Dendias was intended to make it clear that Turkey is not seeking a coordinated dialogue on maritime zones with Greece.

It was also to highlight Turkey seeks to separate Greek-Turkish dialogue from the grid of Euro-Turkish relations.
