Mitsotakis lambasts elitist 12-team European Super League: "Fans won't accept it"

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his opposition to the possibility of a European Super League with only 12 teams which decided to compete only with each other, creating their own inter-club European organisation.

Mitsotakis posted on Twitter that this proposal is in complete contradiction with the history of football and the fans are not going to accept it.

"The possibility of the unexpected makes football so exciting," said the Prime Minister.

"The proposal from a few wealthy European clubs to form a closed league totally cuts against the history and tradition of the game," he continued, adding It is wrong - plain and simple."

"Fans will not accept it," Mitsotakis concluded.
