Çavuşoğlu: Dendias and I have been friends since 2003, he upset me

With the usual lies by Turkey and with a personal attack against Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke to Habertürk TV on Tuesday night about last week’s meeting.

What Çavuşoğlu said, among other things, was that the Greek Foreign Minister “was not honest” after noting that the two sides had agreed not to comment at the press conference about things that could provoke reactions.

“The talks took place in an extremely honest atmosphere,” the Turkish foreign minister said.

“As our president stated, the conversation during his reception at the presidential palace was honest,” he continued, adding: “Being honest does not mean that we do not express our views,” he continued.

“We talked about what we can do in the future, in the economy, for Confidence Building Measures,” Çavuşoğlu said.

He went on to say that “a new dialogue has begun.”

“This first meeting was not easy, but it took place in a more positive atmosphere than we expected,” the head of Turkish diplomacy recalled.

Despite the “good climate”, however, Çavuşoğlu unleashed another series of lies accusing Greece of killing immigrants in the Aegean.

Specifically, as he said “they threw (the Greeks) seven Africans with plastic handcuffs into the sea with three of them dying.”

He of course, as is typical in Turkey, provided no evidence to the claim.

Çavuşoğlu continued noting that the fact that Dendias “has been my friend since 2003” but that “he upset me about this.”

“Apart from that, we have an answer to whatever the Greeks say, we have no fear,” he added.

However, Çavuşoğlu spoke about the next day of Greek-Turkish relations, noting that “we are ready to resolve all issues” and referring to the possibility of a meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
