Greece protests against Turkish harassment of French ship in Greek waters

The Greek embassy in Ankara protested to Turkish authorities about their harassment of the French ship L'Atalante that was operating in Greek waters with permission from Athens, according to diplomatic sources.

Last week, the French research ship requested permission from Greece to proceed with investigations well within the Exclusive Economic Zone defined by the Greece-Egypt agreement west of the 28th meridian.

Turkey proceeded to send a frigate in order to drive the French research ship out.

The French research was accompanied by a frigate of the Greek Navy.
