Strict lockdown in Cyprus until May 9

Cyprus is entering a severe two-week lockdown due to the alarming increase in COVID-19 cases and the excessive pressure on the health system.

The Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, announced that from Monday, April 26, until Sunday, May 9, a curfew will be imposed from 9pm to 5am.

Holy Saturday will be the only exception to the curfew.

Church attendance is also prohibited, except on the night of the Resurrection.

Churchgoers will only be allowed on courtyard of the churches with masks.

There has been at least 59,792 COVID-19 cases in Cyprus, resulting in 296 deaths.
