Last Sunday, the Hellenic Police released the identities of 57 people belonging to a criminal organisation in Athens.
The gang members were all migrants who are now accused of systematic robberies and burglaries.
Although Athens was once one of the safest cities in Europe for its size, mass illegal immigration has turned large parts of the city into into a parallel society wherein anarchy, lawlessness and crime reigns - such as in Exarcheia and Omonia.
According to a statement by the Greek police, the criminals arrested were from Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Algeria, Palestine, Iraq, Bangladesh, Libya and Morocco.
