Dendias receives congratulatory letter from French counterpart Le Drian

French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, stressed the need to promote a united and solidary Europe in a recent congratulatory letter to his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias.

The congratulatory letter was related to the celebrations held for the 200th anniversary of the 1821 Greek Revolution, according to diplomatic sources.

He underlined that his country is committed to supporting this project, which maintains its relevance today, together with Greece.

In his reply letter, Dendias noted Greece's commitment to deepening bilateral relations in all areas, as well as the joint efforts to strengthen a responsible and solidarity-based European Union, based on values such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

The French foreign minister was forced to postpone his visit to Athens last February in order to participate in the Philia Forum, in which he finally participated by teleconference, due to the pandemic.

In a telephone conversation between the two ministers, it was agreed to hold a bilateral meeting, either in Athens or in Paris, as soon as the epidemiological conditions allow.
