The representative of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Ömer Çelik, referred to the five-day conference on the Cyprus issue underway in Geneva, accusing Greece and the Republic of Cyprus of not finding a solution.
"The maximalist policies of the Greek Cypriot side and the Greek side did not lead to any solution," he said.
He of course refers to the Republic of Cyprus as the "Greek Cypriot side" because Turkey is the only country in the world to not recognise it as an independent country.
Although the spokesperson blames Greece and Cyprus for a non-resolution to the crisis, it is Turkey and the Turkish-speaking Cypriots that insist on a two-state solution, something that has found support no where, including from the United Nations.
Çelik then made reference to the former Turkish-speaking Cypriot leader, Mustafa Akıncı, and falsely called him a former "president."
"Unfortunately, former President Akıncı added one more to the bad statements he made during his rule," he said, referring to Akıncı's efforts to integrate occupied northern Cyprus into the republic.
"He made an orphan statement about Mr. Tatar," the spokesperson said in reference to the current Turkish-speaking Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, who is radically pro-Ankara.
Days ago, to the fury of Ankara, Akıncı's said that "Tatar will be Ankara's parrot in Geneva."
"Someone who used such bad rhetoric during his term as chairman of the TRNC would be expected to take a more sensible approach after retirement," Çelik said.
The so-called "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" (TRNC), is an illegal entity established after the Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus in 1974.
It is recognised by no other state in the world besides Turkey, and was deemed an illegal entity by United Nations Security Council resolutions 541 and 550.
"Turkey is always close to the TRNC," Çelik said, adding "It will not allow its rights and interests to be violated."
The 1974 invasion of northern Cyprus by Turkey led to 200,000 Greek Cypriot refugees, thousands killed and hundreds of women raped.
