Each year, St. Basil's looks forward to this family event shared with the community, held on Palm Sunday and leading into Holy Week.

St Basil's Palm Sunday luncheon began in 1975, when the Very Reverend Father John Kapetas, Mary Economos and friends invited the new and very young Archbishop Stylianos to lunch on his first Sunday in Australia, which happened to be Palm Sunday.

Since that first lunch in 1975, this function has been emulated in almost every parish in Australia. This year, more than 400 people with families and friends attended to celebrate the day organised by St. Basil's.

The event was also attended by a number of officials including His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, The Consul General Mr Christos Karras with the Trade Commissioner Mrs Katia Gkikiza, Mr. James Jordan , Chairman of St. Basil's Homes NSW & ACT and all the Directors of Board.
