Easter is such a powerful reminder of God’s power to bring life out of death.

Many of us will spend Pascha celebrating with friends and family, making memories and enjoying good food together. But there’s a growing crowd of individuals who are left out… literally.

The Municipality of Athens continues to help those most vulnerable in the community.

Packages of food ("love meals") on Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, as well as Easter eggs will be offered to thousands of vulnerable people who are under protection and care of the Municipality of Athens.

"Crises are what makes us give more value to what we have always taken for granted. For Athens, solidarity, support for those who need us and, above all, their dignity remain a daily requirement. Not only in this current difficult period but also everyday, throughout the city, we remain faithful. Let no one ever be left alone," said Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis.

At the same time, the Athens Municipality Reception and Solidarity Center has set the Easter table for 2,000 homeless and deprived citizens, so that no one is left without a festive meal on the Holy days of Easter.

Meals will also be distributed to all homeless shelters.
