During excavations in Kalymnos, an intact clay amphora dating from the Late Roman period, an intact clay vessel from the Byzantine period and the upper part of a clay amphora from the Hellenistic period were found.
The Kalymnos police department conducted a search at the residence of a local man after being tipped off.
During their search, they found an intact clay amphora dating from Late Roman times, an intact clay vessel from Byzantine times and the top of a clay amphora from the Greeks.
The ancient objects fall under the protective provisions of the law on the protection of antiquities and were thus confiscated and kept in order to be handed over to the Ephorate of Marine Antiquities of the Dodecanese for evaluation.
The owner was arrested and referred to the prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Kos, accused of illegal possession of antiquities.
