With only 10 days until Greece opens its borders to tourism, government spokeswoman Aristotelia Peloni outlined the plan of opening up the country despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the government spokeswoman said, “On May 15, when tourism opens , inter-regional travel will also open.”
Currently, travel between regions in Greece is not permitted.
Tourism opens to those who have been vaccinated or tested negative for COVID-19 72 hours before arriving.
Regarding the possibility of abolishing the compulsory SMS when leaving the household, she said in speaking to SKAI that from May 15 onwards “we will see what can be done and what can be re-examined.”
As she stressed, the issue will be discussed next week.
The spokeswoman said that the opening of the kindergartens will not be discussed at the moment.
Regarding vaccinations, Peloni said that Greece is accelerating a lot, up to 100,000 per day.
She even stressed that 95% of people who end up in ICU are unvaccinated.
“The vaccine is the only safety shield and the tool that will bring us to freedom,” Peloni said.
