Priest in Halkidiki wants to ban masks, vaccinated people from Church

A priest in northern Greece says he wants to ban the use of masks in his church and prohibit entry to vaccinated members of the flock.

It must be noted that unlike last year when Orthodox Easter celebrations were cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Greek government allowed limited worshippers to attend Holy Week services.

According to MEGA, during the service on Good Friday, the priest in Nea Silata in Halkidiki, told the faithful that "whoever wears a mask, has done the vaccine or has done the tests, will not return to church."

"It is very easy for me to apply this and make a revolution here, but it is not of God."

According to the priest, the measures are nothing but the "work of the devil."

He also said he wanted to “strangle” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, at odds with Christian and Orthodox beliefs about killing anyone.

According to locals, the priest is a well-known and outspoken opponent of the covid-19 measures and vaccinations.

The measures, he stressed, are nothing short of “fascism."
