Greek PM- Travellers to Greece should not be put into quarantine on return

Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke in favour of flexible movement this summer, to reporters after the informal meeting of EU leaders in Porto, Portugal, on Saturday.

This includes not quarantining travellers returning from Greece.

“Everyone agrees that travel should be allowed as smoothly as possible in the summer. For us, this means no excessive restrictions on the return of travellers to their countries.”

He repeated Greece’s firm position for the green vaccination certificate. He called for the need for a swift implementation of ‘green’ vaccination certificate so that citizens can start travelling to other countries without further delay.”

In his address, the prime minister also stood in favour of the coronavirus vaccine patents waiver, as he has been, he said, supporting the issue since April and May 2020, “in view of minimising the gap between developed and developing countries.”

President Joe Biden on Wednesday backed the U.S. entering negotiations at the World Trade Organization for the waiver of intellectual property rights as a means to boost vaccine supplies by allowing poorer countries to make their own.
