St. Basil's NSW/ ACT Homes Celebrates International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.

It is celebrated on 12 May of each year, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

Born in 1820, Florence Nightingale is long considered to be the founder of modern day nursing.

She came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers at Constantinople.

Florence Nightingale gave nursing a favourable reputation and became an icon of Victorian culture, especially in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making rounds of wounded soldiers at night.

On 12 May, across all of their facilities, St Basil’s Homes NSW/ACT celebrate and honour its nurses for keeping the residents safe and providing the best quality of care.

This year, the residents of St. Basil’s Homes NSW/ACT have written beautiful messages for their nurses expressing gratitude and acknowledging the importance of their work.

Happy International Nurses Day

The bilingual nurses of St. Bail’s Homes NSW/ACT provide personalised assistance that is timely and appropriate to the individual needs of each resident.

St. Basil's Homes appreciate the hard and dedicated work of all of the nurses on their incredible nursing staff, and would like to take this opportunity to say: “Thank you so much for keeping us safe.”
