Agis Emmanouil set to run from 2,000+ miles from Greece to Glasgow

Greek actor Agis Emmanouil will run 2000+ miles across Europe, to raise the profile of the COP26 environmental conference being held in Glasgow in November.

The actor will be accompanied by various ultra runners from the countries he will cross.

"It is a very difficult project, it will last 80 days, which requires concentration and dedication... My diet, hydration, sleep must be under control. It's like a longboat, which will end when I get to Glasgow. It is the first time I will run so many days , but the ultramarathon is 70% soul and 30% training. Experience definitely plays a role, the main thing is that we are talking about a brain game: the brain makes a plan that you have to complete," he told Bovary.

Emmanouil has launched a fundraising page to enable him to support local environmental projects in the countries he will run through- Greece, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK.

"This run has a symbolism...Running is health, longevity and happiness, because through it you forget your problems. When you run, you are happy. The most important thing is to shift the thought: we have married bad habits and we find it impossible to change them. I have decided to prove that this big change can be made,"the 51-year-old added.

His journey ends in Glasgow for the opening of the COP26 conference in November.

The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

"The most important thing for me is the experience. The experience of experiencing this thing is incomparable. Ever since the day I turned fifty, I did not believe that the body has these capabilities. Maybe after Glasgow, I would say that now is the time to do a show that I have in mind. Of course there are still races I want to run. Because a marathon is like life, I would say," Emmanouil concluded.

We wish Agis Emmanouil all the best for his initiative "Movement 7: Athens - Glasgow". You can help the actor by donating here.
"Take me to the starting point and I will take you to the finish line."
