Novak Djokovic impressed by Stefanos Tsitsipas and other 'Next Gens'

Recently, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic commented that there is a generational shift already underway in men's tennis.

The last four ATP Masters 1000 events - the most prestigious tournaments outside the Grand Slams - have been won by players outside the 'Big Three'- Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Hubert Hurkacz and Alexander Zverev have won the three Masters events this year and Daniil Medvedev won the ATP Finals and the Paris Masters titles last year.

The young guns, especially Tsitsipas at the age of 22, begin their domination over the 'Big Three'.

The 18-time Grand Slam winner stated: “The results prove that they are earning more than before. I mean, obviously, these guys are playing, you know, more or less every week. There are guys like Tsitsipas, Zverev, (Matteo) Berrettini, (Andrey) Rublev that are winning against all of us and playing a lot and building their ranking points”

"It's inevitable that it's going to happen. The change on the men's rankings, top of the rankings is coming. Whether it's going to happen in a month or a year or whatever, I don't know," he added.

For Nadal, the success of the younger players is normal, but that is not going to stop him and his efforts. "I don't like to hide the truth... We are not playing as many tournaments as we did before. It's normal that after almost 20 years on the tour there is another generation that is winning tournaments.

"We have been achieving almost every single important event for the last 19 years. Nothing strange. 100% ready to accept that. But I'm going to keep fighting for the things," he concluded.
