A 32-year-old Pakistani national was sentenced to six years in prison for attempted rape and 8 months for illegal possession of a firearm, Estia reported.

He received a total sentence of six years and four months with the appeal having no suspensory effect.

According to the case file against him, the Pakistani entered through an open balcony door into a boarding house where a 49-year-old Greek woman was staying.

The woman was sleeping and the 32-year-old dropped on her with his body, waking her up.

Then the man, holding a knife, touched her neck and began kissing her, attempting to force the woman to have intercourse with him.

The woman started shouting for help and the criminal fled.

A few months later, in 2018, the Karpathos police arrested the criminal for theft.

During the preliminary investigation, it was established that the Pakistani was also the perpetrator of the attempted rape against the 49-year-old woman.

It also emerged that the Pakistani had committed two other thefts.

In December 2019, a summons was sent for a testimony from the 39-year-old for the rape attempt case, however he never appeared before the Rhodes Investigator.

As a result, an arrest warrant was issued against him, which was pending.

On June 1, 2020, police officers of the DI.AS team located some foreigners in Thessaloniki and during a search found that among them was the Pakistani who was wanted in the case of the attempted rape.

So the foreigner was arrested and taken to prison where he will return after the conviction.
