Lockdown on Kalymnos island extended for one more week

Greek authorities have repeatedly extended the harsh restriction measures for the island of Kalymnos for one more week as the epidemiological load remains high.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, Civil Protection said that the strict restrictions are extended until 6:00 a.m. on May 25, 2021, for public health reasons.

Daily active cases

The Head of CP said that the epidemiological load on the island remains high despite a slight decline in the last couple of days.

He added that if the decline continues, this would be the last week with strict restrictions.

Kalymnos was placed in the special lockdown status on May 5 due to an outbreak, the second in this year.

Locals are allowed to leave their homes only for important reasons and leave the island only for health reasons.

In the rest of Greece, major lockdown restrictions were lifted on May 14.
