Greece confirms 1,262 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, 50 deaths; 656 in ICUs

Greece set to extend lockdown as covid cases soar

Greece registered 1,262 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, with 4 of these identified at entry points to the country, the National Public Health Organisation (EODY) reported on Sunday.
Greece has confirmed 377,090 infections from the start of the pandemic (daily change: +0.3 pct). In the confirmed cases of the last seven days, 40 conditions are related to travel from abroad and 2,711 to other confirmed cases.
There are also 50 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing pandemic victims to 11,415. Of these, 95.2 per cent had an underlying condition and were 70 years old.
A total of 656 patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years, and 82.5 pct have an underlying condition and are aged 70 or more. An Additional 2,280 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
In addition, 287 Covid-19 patients were admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change of a -4.97 per cent). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals in the previous seven days was 323.
The median age of new infections is 44 years, while the median age of the deceased is 78.
