The new Archeological Museum of Chalkida "Arethoussa" will be inaugurated by Culture Minister Lina Mendoni on Sunday at 19:30.
The next day, it will open its doors to the public with the permanent exhibition curated by the Antiquities Ephorate of Evia.
The museum is situated in the Aghios Stefanos area, where the sources of the mythical Arethoussa from which took its name are located, and is housed in a former industrial building that has been declared a monument.
The building itself is an exhibit dating from the early industrial activity in the area at the start of the 20th century.
The exhibits on display relate to matters of state organisation, economy, cultural identity and worship, including representative artifacts from the islands of Evia and Skyros.
