Konstantinos Argiros, the best-selling Greek artist of his generation, was born on the 21st May 1986 and turns 35 today!
Konstantinos, his brother Pavlos and sister Katerina are the first triplets to be born in Greece by IVF.
At the age of five, Konstantinos started playing the piano. Stroking the keys on the keyboard was natural for him, as he had a talent for performing songs on that instrument, which improved and flourished everyday as he played on the piano his parents had at home.
That is when his ‘relationship’ with the piano began, which is still strong until today.
When he was teenager, Konstantinos started his own band “Blues brothers” with his classmates where they performed at school events and at other events representing the school.
The talented artist first started singing in a night club in October 2005, at ‘Votanikos’, Athens with Anna Vissi. He later went on to perform with huge names in the Greek music industry including Giannis Ploutarhos, Nikos Kourkoulis, Nikos Vertis, Natasa Theodoridou and many more.
In June 2009, Konstantinos released his first song, “Ολα θα αλλάξουν” released by Sony music. The single was produced by Nikos Nikolaidis, composed by Christoforos Germenis and lyrics written by Panos Falaras.
His musical collaboration with Universal Music began in May 2010 when he released the song “Ερωτευμένος και τρελός”. A year later, he released his first album “Μάλλον κάτι ξέρω”, which topped the Greek airplay charts for many weeks. That summer he also toured for the first time in Greece and Cyprus.
October 2012 was another important year for Konstantinos in his musical career, as he collaborated with Giorgos Theofanous for the song “Ποτέ Ξανά”. This song was awarded ‘Song of the Year’ at the 2013 Mad VMA. By November, he completed his second album titled “Παιδί Γενναίο”.
From March 2013 until January 2015, the young artist performed at ‘Posidonio’ in Athens. During this time, in March 2014, he released his third album “Δέυτερη Φορά” with songs we all love including “Πάρε Με Αγκαλιά”, “Εσένα Θέλω” and “Να Της Πεις”.
In January 2015, Konstantinos also completed his time in the army while being allowed to perform at selected areas in Greece.
It was in April 2016 when his appearances at ‘Fantasia’, Athens started, after his record album “Οσα νιώθω” was released. The songs on the album were success after success including “Αθήνα-Θεσσαλονίκη”, “Τα Κατάφερες” and “Τι Να Πεις Για ‘μένα”. His song “Το συμπέρασμα” from that album was named the ‘Best Greek Mad Song’ at the 2016 Mad VMA and ‘Best Airplay Song of the Year’ at the Super Music Awards of Cyprus. At the Mad VMA Cyprus Awards in 2016, he was named “Artist of the Year”.
His song “Ξημερώματα” was the massive summer 2017 anthem. It dominated the top of the Greek Airplay Chart for 15 consecutive weeks, was viewed more than 53 million times on YouTube and was heard everywhere.
That year he was also rewarded the ‘Best Male Adult Singer’ at the MAD VMA and a few days later ‘Best Folk Singer of the Year’ and ‘Favourite Song of the Radio Producers’ for “Οσα νιώθω” at the Super Music Awards of Cyprus.
Last year, Argiros released a new zembekiko “Athina Mou”, dedicated to the Greek capital city.
A song with genuine emotions, social references and with the lyrics written by Lefteris Kintatos, it creates a sense of pride for Greece’s capital.
The video, directed by Giannis Dimolitsa, includes nostalgic touches from memories of an old Athens and is inspired by founders of timeless Greek music.
Argiros in the music video plays the role of a working-class man who brings out the misery of his soul in a picturesque tavern, as he desperately searches for his beloved in the capital.
It is worth noting that the music video for “My Athens” is an ode to the classic film “Evdokia” (1971) by Alexis Damianos, from which the legendary “Zeibekiko Tis Evdokias” written by Manos Loizos, became known.
Xronia Polla Konstantinos, Pavlos and Katerina!
Happy 35th Birthday triplets!
