Greek swimmer Dimitris Markos secured his ticket to the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The 20-year-old swam 7.53.07 in the 800 freestyle at the Acropolis Grand Prix in Athens.
"It is the most beautiful moment in my career and in my life," Markos told the Hellenic Swimming Federation.
"I still can't believe it... I would like to thank my coach Alexandros Moraris and all those who are by my side. I believe that I have the potential to create a great career in the near future. I do not have standards, but I believe a lot in myself," he added.
The swim also gets Markos within 2 seconds of Konstantinos Englezakis' Greek record in the event which stands at a 7:51.27. Englezakis set that record last year at the 2020 Golden Tour in Nice, France.
The Tokyo Summer Olympic Games will be held from July 23- August 8. They were originally set to take place from July 24- August 9, 2020 but were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
