The length of the tourist season this year will determine the final result in terms of arrivals and revenues for Greek tourism, stated Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis at an online event entitled "Tourism and Safety" organised by the Citizen Protection Ministry on Tuesday.

Theoharis expressed hope that there will be no setbacks or a stop-go imposition of measures, as happened the previous year, and asked for the strict observation of health measures, as well as the police's assistance in this effort.

He said that this year the protection measures are 'friendly' for the general public, as they are tailored for those wishing to travel.

The minister noted his satisfaction with the constant drop in the new coronavirus cases in the country, stressing that all Greeks should be proud that Greece has a plan and follows it.

Theoharis also pointed out that the Greek tourism ministry was awarded this year for the successful opening of tourism in 2020.

Regarding the issue with the United Kindgom, he underlined that the current development saddens him and expressed hope that Greece will be added to the list of 'green' destination in the British government's next review.
