A special event was held at Athens International Airport on Tuesday marking Emirates air carrier's June 1 launch of its daily direct flights from Athens to New York's Newark Liberty International Airport.
The event was attended by United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Greece Sulaiman al-Mazroui and Emirates Director for Greece & Albania Khalid al-Zarooni.
With this new air connection between Greece and the U.S., "Greek trade and consumers' movement are facilitated, and tourism is actively supported," noted al-Zarooni.
Meanwhile, in another Tuesday announcement by air carrier SKY Express, it was noted that the company launched its Athens-Paris direct flights on June 5, held once per week.
The carrier added that it is expecting to soon launch direct flights to Paris from Heraklion, Crete.
