Scottish Premiership fixtures: Ange Postecoglou's first five matches

Ange Postecoglou Celtic FC

Ange Postecoglou, the new manager of Celtic FC, will certainly have a tough beginning to life in the Scottish Premiership by playing Rangers in the the fourth match of the season.

Celtic FC will play their first match of the season in Edinburgh against Hearts on July 31, followed by home matches against Dundee and St Mirren.

On August 28, Celtic FC will line up against immortal rivals Rangers in an away match at Ibrox Stadium.

This will be Postecoglou's first experience of the Old Firm rivalry as a manager.

This is then followed by a home match on September 11 against Ross County.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been linked with a move for Australian international Aaron Mooy.

The former Huddersfield and Brighton midfielder is currently with Shanghai SIPG in China, but COVID-19 restrictions mean the 30-year-old is unable to easily see his family and is reportedly open to a move elsewhere.

SBS have tipped him to link up with Ange Postecoglou at Celtic.

Due to COVID-19 rules, all players are confined to two ‘bubbles’ in the cities of Guangzhou and Suzhou and can only leave their hotel to train and play games.

That has made things hard on the player, who’s wife is Scottish, and it is understood that his Chinese club wouldn’t be hard to deal with.

Postecoglou has completed his mandatory period of quarantine after being confirmed as the new Hoops boss and is expected to begin work next week.

Celtic are also expected to appoint a sporting director, but for now Postecoglou will work with chief executive Dominic McKay on recruitment.

That is likely to take up a significant chunk of their time as well with a major rebuild required.

Star names such as Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie are likely to move on having entered the final year of their contracts (six months in Christie’s case).
