Venus Williams and Nick Kyrgios will play mixed doubles together at Wimbledon, the Greek Australian tennis star announced during a press conference on Saturday.

Nick Kyrgios said in the pre-tournament press conference on Saturday that he will compete in mixed doubles at Wimbledon with former WTA World No. 1 Venus Williams.

“The mixed doubles pair of the tournament!” Kyrgios exclaimed after making the announcement

Kyrgios has found his match. Williams is a two-time mixed doubles winner at Grand Slams, triumphing at the Australian Open and Roland Garros in 1998.

Earlier on Tuesday, after putting a call-out on social media asking who he should play mixed doubles with, the Aussie born wild child found his answer in the form of 41-year-old Venus Williams.

The elder Williams sister has long wanted to team up with Kyrgios, saying it would be fun to play with the Greek Australian when asked back in 2017 who her dream mixed doubles partner would be.

Kyrgios is pretty confident of what the pair can achieve together, declaring them “the mixed doubles pairing of the tournament” at a pre-tournament press conference.

Kyrgios has played mixed doubles before, most recently with Amanda Anisimova at last year’s Australian Open and Desirae Krawczyk at Wimbledon in 2019.

"I'm back" Kyrgios tweeted this morning.

"You're back with the best!" one tennis enthusiast tweeted in reply.
